The combination of two pieces of art to make another. I like it. More potential techniques…
Wow I love to see different techniques used by other artists. This is a book signing by Stephano Ricci. He’s using pastels and pencils for his creations inside his books. I love how he uses his hands to smear and smudge the pastels and graphite around. Just like how I paint. I can’t express how much this gets me going! I want to go do this right now…and I just might do that tonight. Check out some of his other work here.
Bokeh- Japanese for blur
I saw this video on Vimeo today and I LOVE it! When it comes to bokeh in photos and video, I’m the biggest sucker. Danny Cooke takes an average experience and makes it increasingly more intimate and beautiful. You just have to see it for yourself!
This technique may eneter an upcoming pictable video.
While watching a trailer before Alice in Wonderland, I fell in love with a song used for the movie Legend of the Guardians – The Owls of Ga Hoole. I even tried to use Shazam on my iPhone but it wouldn’t pick it up. I later found out it was Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds to Mars, the band of Jared Leto. Since then I have purchased the song and it has been rocking my speakers, playlists and ears ever since.
Then today I stumbled across their video for the song and the behind the scenes making of video. The song is epic but has some theological flaws. In the end, the video got my creative juices flowing and I just wish to share it…
We are gearing up to hit the road with new pictable services, concepts and experiences in the coming months. Lost to Love has garnered rave reviews and we can’t wait to share it with more people. Updated and brand new pictable concepts are being worked on right now. Christmas is coming soon and a brand new Nativitas service is on its way. Lots of exciting projects are being constructed by the pictable elves. Get on board now and book a pictable today!
I was invited to help lead an art camp in Sistarovat, Romania at the beginning of August. Artists came from all over Romania to learn more and practice their skills in painting, illustration, creative writing, graphic design, photography and sculpture. For me this was a special opportunity to be with artists, learn from them, help, encourage and teach them. It was a privilege to there…even in spite of the food.
It was a chance to reconnect with pictable artist Alina and her husband after a 3 year time in between trips. Once again I was able to share a canvas with her for a presentation at the camp. Doing a cooperative painting with another artist is an exercise in creative tug of war. You constantly push and get pushed. I love it!
There was another artist there who had had a dream for years of painting at her church. Teo was part of the painting workshop and a very talented artist. When I heard about her desire to paint like I do, I welcomed the chance to share a canvas with her. After having a creative brainstorming session, we settled on a great concept that would illustrate the creation process. She started and finished the canvas after I took a turn in the middle. She handled the painting quite well even with people watching and more importantly photographers documenting every move. After we were finished, she communicated the meaning in a concise manner. I hope to share a canvas with her again!
The week also provided an opportunity to see Alina in a teaching capacity as well. The time spent before, during and after the camp helped rejuvenate the desire to replicate myself and the pictable ministry by working with other capable painters. I can’t wait until next year’s camp.
On the final night, I was able to share the brand new pictable service, Lost to Love, for the artists. The response was great and I believe they were able to see an example of a true multimedia presentation. The following Sunday I also presented Lost to Love to two churches in Timisoara. The fun experience of trying to translate the voice over parts in the video proved to add some excitement to the end of a very busy week. Who knew trying to find wifi at midnight in the middle of a busy town square would be so much fun?
Thanks to Marius and Flavia for following your hearts to start and grow Recreativ. I pray that it will only grow in quality and quantity. Maybe you guys can come to the states. Thanks to the other coordinators for giving of your time and expertise. It was a pleasure getting to know you. Thanks to Sorin and Alina for hosting me and taking such good care of me. I loved seeing you again. May God bless you guys!

The weekend in St. Louis was full of excitement. Friday was spent on two planes, cruising on the MetroLink, walking up and down the Delmar Loop, picking up a few comics at Star Clipper, sitting and staring at Anselm Kiefer’s “Burning Rods” diptych for an intoxicating amount of time and hitting the zoo for a brief amount if time before getting picked up by my dad. Saturday was spent watching my bro race in the rain, watch my dad’s countenance fall when he saw his truck after it was scraped by a delivery truck in the Arby’s parking lot, stretching canvas in the basement of Manchester UMC during a tornado warning, making fun of peculiar prom plans and a great day with my favorite bald guy. Sunday brought about a very enjoyable couple of services led by the youth of MUMC. The pictable went well, especially with 45min to paint. But the talent and testimonies of these youth was inspiring and encouraging. Thanks for letting me be a part of your weekend!
And for the record-noob tubes rock!
